Who Are We?

We bought this property in May 2003. We knew we wanted to live by the River Ebro and not in an arid area. Having spent many months researching the area and properties we finally found Casa Siempre, an old Catalan Masia, a complete wreck in need of a lot of work, love and attention. It took two years of commuting before the restoration was completed and Ian (el jeffe), Alice (La hija) and me (Lyn) were able to relocate from Southern England. There was just under an acre of very ancient mandarins trees, all of which had to be dug out and burnt. The fire smouldered for a week! The Mandarin grove has now been replanted which Ian actively farms  and production is around 5000 kilos of fruit per year. This is the perfect location…near to Tortosa our local city and the village of Tivenys but far enough away for peace and tranquility. We have embraced Catalan life, our daughter has been educated here, she speaks fluent Catalan and Spanish and is currently at Art College.

We restored the old Almacen (barn) in spring 2005 and opened La Casita B&B that summer welcoming our first guests. Nine years on and we still love welcoming people to La Casita to share with them a little of Catalan life and hospitality. For our guests, the joy of staying at La Casita ,in the garden of Casa Siempre is the proximity to all the area has to offer yet the pleasure of being in a country location only two minutes away from the river. We have a private swim yards from the house for those that wish to fish or just sit and contemplate the majesty of the River Ebro and surrounding mountains. La casita is self contained and private yet next door to our Catalan farmhouse allowing you the security of neighbours. The property is just off the main road and there are no difficult mountain tracks to negotiate, making very easy access day and night. There is easy parking outside the accommodation so no lugging cases around.
Our aim is to provide a relaxed holiday with English speaking hosts (with a grasp of Catalan and Spanish) in the jewel of Catalunya the Terres de l’Ebre.
